Our Purple Trucks
Ever wonder why our trucks are purple and gold...
At Godby Home Services, we truly are a family. To accomplish our goal of providing our customers with the best service possible, we start with dependable, well-trained employees who are constantly reminded they are valued part of that family.
This was clearly evident in December 2001, when an employee's two-year old son, Tim, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a children's cancer.
For the next 4 years, Godby employees were at the family's side, offering whatever assistance we could. We celebrated together during the good times and cried together during the bad. When young Timmy lost his fight in January, 2006 at the age of 6, we felt that loss deeply and decided we wanted to do something in his honor.
Our first goal was to bring attention to this terrible disease and to raise money to help find a cure. In 2006, we participated in Timbo's House Fundraising Raffle and raised over a quarter million dollars. Donations were made to the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation in Timbo's memory.
Today, as a continuing reminder of our fight, our trucks are painted purple and gold in honor of Timbo. Purple represents the color of hope; hope that one day no family has to face losing a child to this disease. Gold symbolizes children's cancer awareness.
Our employees are proud to drive these purple and gold trucks, knowing first hand how horrible cancer is and how important it is to raise awareness about how this disease affects a family.
When you see our purple and gold trucks, remember that we drive them proudly in honor of Timbo and all children fighting cancer.
